When our ancestors, the Romans, conquered Britannia in the year 55 B.C.,
they took home big and fierce fighting dogs, with powerful jaws, used by the locals during battles. Consequently they began to breed these dogs for arena’s fightings.
Previously Epiro’s dogs were used for this activities, but the dogs from Britannia were recognized unanimously far superior in being more warlike, braver, physically more resistant, also in standing pain. The dogs the Romans found in battlefields were the ancestors of our bulldogs.
In England these dogs were successfully breeded: the modern (current) bulldog is the result of a selection started in England in middle XIX century, when the cruel “bull-baiting” (dog VS bulls fightings) were finally banned.
From this time onwards the breed was oriented towards pacific sofa-lover and bed-lovers, no more aggressive and bloody dogs.
This introduction is finalized to underline the bulldog as one of the oldest and more fascinating breeds, and above all one of the most peculiar ones of the dog world.
To get good results in breeding this wonderful breed we must operate an extremely accurate selection, using those blood-lines which demonstrated to produce healthy, well-constructed puppies, with no breathing or hearth problems, having a strong scheletric structure, since the bulldog’s skeleton is overcharged.
It is only the perfect balance that allows our dog to move as a “normal dog”, with its typical movement, heavy but fluent.
In order to gain such results it is necessary to use the best stallions and the best bitches to maintain the type and preserve the breed.
We must not hurry to purchase our bulldog if we want a healthy, long-lived and good-tempered dog; to make a good bargain you must require to see the parents, copy of the litter’s notification to the Kennel Club, the vaccinations, microchip implantation and veterinary records, and so on.
This is just to underline you must choose experienced breeders only.
I am living with these wonderful breed from 14 years and I humbly tried to give my contribution to it, studying each mating according conscience and respect.
A nationally well-known veterinary team take care of our dogs, helping the correct puppies’ growth.
Our breedings constantly enter the most important national and international Dog Shows, getting good results both in Italy and abroad.
